How Caps Shield could beat Thors Hammer!!

Infinity War contains a huge amount of superheroes fighting the evil powers of Thanos, and a lot of them demonstrate their extreme power: Scarlet Witch (who destroyed an infinity stone whilst holding Thanos off with her other hand), Thor (who has the power to destroy a fraction of the army in his land and almost kill Thanos) and Doctor Strange (who had, but misused, the power to reverse time). In this blog I will see how Thor's axe and Cap's shield could beat or be equal to each other!!

SPOILER WARNING!! IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN INFINITY WAR DON'T READ ON!! BUT ALSO, WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN THIS YEAR, WATCH IT!!

Back onto Thor, his axe is made from the metal Uru combined with the enchantment of the dying star (Nidavellir), this is the same way his hammer was made. In Avengers Assemble (if you don't remember) Thor's hammer clashes onto Caps shield (made out of Vibranium) and they bounced an equal distance apart. This shows that Uru (with enchantment) has equal power as Caps shield (without enchantment). These leads me on to my theory. If Vibranium was hit with the enchantment  it would be stronger than the enchanted Uru. This is assuming that Vibranium can withstand the power as that may be a quality only Uru possesses.

If Vibranium had the enchantment of the star then it wouldn't only be possible to beat Thor's hammer but maybe it could also destroy Thanos's gauntlet. In case you didn't spot it, you clearly see a mould (or replica) of Thanos's gauntlet in Eitris workshop - this suggests that Uru is the same metal that made the gauntlet. So this also suggests that Vibranium plus Nidalevir could be the final destroyer of Thanos instead of Thor, Scarlet Witch, Doctor Strange or Captain Marvel. However, their powers combined with the new super metal would be even more amazing.

So what do you think? This is an idea I haven't heard before and I don't think it will be used in the Avengers movie but I find it interesting. Thank you for reading and comment if you have any thoughts, but for now enjoy Marvel whilst it lasts!!

Also, did you know they are bringing the Fantastic Four into the MCU?!!!!!!!

MCU phase two recap

Recently I recapped phase one of Marvel for those not up to date or who just needed a reminder. But now I shall recap the larger but not as good, in my opinion, phase two (although Guardians and Ant-Man were phenomenal).

SPOILERS! SPOILERS! SPOILERS! SPOILERS! SPOILERS!

Iron Man 3

Like phase one the first film is an Iron Man one. We see Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr) being emotionally scarred since he and the Avengers saved NY from destruction. Relying on his suit to protect him, he gets distracted with  his worries and allows the sinister Mandarin to blow up his mansion; sending Tony lost in the middle of nowhere. He meets a boy who lets him stay at his and Tony finds out about an organisation that are able to mutate people to use heat as an ability. Tony hunts the Mandarin but he discovers he is not the real villain but was paid by the organisation. They are now hunting for Tony, using the girl Tony loves (Pepper Potts) as prey., So he sends all his Iron Man suits to the organisation, blows up the location, along with all his suits as Tony and Pepper live.

Thor: The Dark World

The Aether (Reality Stone) has been hidden on the dimension holding the dark elves known as the dark world. But after a battle with Asgard, the Aether was hidden then discovered by some kid in London who noticed strange things happening in that building. Jane (Thor's love interest), Darcy and Darcy's intern, check it out but as Jane touches it, she passes out. Thor then comes to Jane and takes her to Asgard, they find she has weird reactions to anyone who touches her, besides Thor. She is kept in Asgard as the dark elves attack and kill Thor's mother. Thor then swears revenge and plans an attack on the elves, recruiting imprisoned Loki and Jane. Loki  turns against Thor by chopping of his hammer wielding hand and handing Jane to the Elves, releasing the Aether. As it turns out, Thor and Loki had planned this as Loki gives back Thor's hand holographic-ally, stopping the Aether reaching the elves. But, Loki dies and Thor returns to Asgard rejecting the throne as we (the audience) see Loki in disguise as Odin and now Loki has the throne! Also in an after credit scene we see the Aether handed to a man named the collector.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier

So the first Cap film left Steve in the present day, confused of, well basically everything. But whilst he's ticking off the list of things to catch-up on, S.H.I.E.L.D has been compromised and Nick Fury has been shot by the illusive Winter Soldier. We see Cap and Black Widow hunt down this masked fiend by contacting Caps good friend Falcon. They battle until he takes of his mask to reveal is, in fact,  Caps old friend Bucky - Yes I did tell you in the previous blog he died, it surprised us all! He flees and a shocked Cap finds out about Hydras plans to kill every non-Hydra supporting human in the world, using  S.H.I.E.L.D.S helicarriers. They invade the ship and stop this attack from happening but Cap refuses to kill his friend Bucky, even though he's trying to kill him. Cap falls but Bucky pulls him out with his one metal arm - perhaps there is good in him? S.H.I.E.L.D is now recovered and Nick is recovering as we see another happy ending.

Guardians of the Galaxy

It's 1988 and young fanboy Peter Quill is at his mothers death bed when he runs out and get's abducted by a space ship. He is raised by Yondu, who has been a father-ish figure since he left Earth (and by father-ish I mean, he didn't eat him). One day Quill goes scavenging on the planet of Morag and finds an Orb (Power Gem). He decides not to give it to Yondu, who subsequently puts a bounty on his head. Quill (Star Lord, as he wants to be called) is followed by the Kree and their leader Ronan. Ronan is working for Thanos and uses his favourite Daughter Gamora to retrieve the Orb (although it turns out she is actually double-crossing him). During the mission Rocket the Racoon and Groot (a living tree man) catch Quill for Yondu's bounty. They all (Quill, Gamora, Rocket and Groot) get arrested by Nova on Xandar and taken to the Kyln (prison). They escape with the help of muscly Drax and head to the Collector to sell it for a heafty sum. The Collectors slave touches the gem and blows up the place as Drax calls Ronan to kill him, to avenge his wife (Ronan, killed her). Ronan arrives and Gamora's sister (Nebula) sends Gamora floating through space as Quill saves her but they get sucked in by Yondu's ship as Rocket. Groot, Drax, Gamora and Quill have a plan for them and Yondu's crew to kill Ronan. This battle results with Ronan and the Guardians (as Quill, Gamora, Rocket, Groot and Drax with soon be known) on Xandar. Quill touches the Orb but instead of the power killing him (as it did the slave) he harnesses it's power and is able to hold hands with the other guardians and share the power to kill Ronan, but it also kills Groot. We are left wondering how Quill was able to touch the gem, but left with a Baby Groot growing in a plant pot.

Avengers: Age of Ultron

The Avengers start the movies by invading a Hydra base acquiring the sceptre (mind gem). On their way they see two mutant siblings, Wanda (Scarlet Witch) and Pietro (Quick Silver) Maximoff, who attempt to attack the avengers but then run away. The avengers continue their investigation and fascination with the sceptre, later to see that an experiment with a new Jarvis like program (artificial intelligence) made by Tony has done what they human race fear: became self-aware. It attacks them taking an Iron Man suit then raising an army. Wanda and Pietro go to Ultron (the self-aware robot that attacked the avengers) for help as they hate Tony. They then got to battle with the Avengers, resulting in Bruce becoming angry and The Hulk killing a load of people in Sokovia. Ultron makes human tissue to form a human which he's going to put the Mind Gem in and make living artificial intelligence. Wanda sees with her powers that Ultron plans on destroying the world and flees delivering the human body to Tony. He likes the idea and thinks they should carry it on but put Jarvis in him. Thor charges it with his hammer and it rises with extrordinary power, even being able to lift Thor's hammer! They prepare for the robot invasion conducted by Ultron on Sokovia. They battle and Sokovia falls from the sky after it was lifted by Ultron's army. Sokovia's inhabitants are evacuated but the land falls in bits to the sea. Vision kills the last of Ultron and Pietro dies. Iron Man and Hawkeye retire as the Hulk goes missing on the jet and we are left with: Cap, Black Widow, War Machine, Wanda, Falcon and Vision as the Avengers.

Ant man

The last of the phase two films begins with Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) as he gets out of jail for stealing. He wants to see his daughter but can't so he steals again to get money but only finds a red and grey suit. He later put's it on and shrinks Ant size. When he returns to normal size he freaks out and returns the suit. Thinking he is breaking in, the police arrest him. The size-shrinking suits is delivered to him in his cell allowing him to shrink and escape. He rides a fly, passes out and wakes up in genius, Hank Pym, house (where he stole the suit from). It turns out Pym was testing Scott to see how good is was at breaking in and he trains him to use the suit properly. Pym is head of Pym Tech which is now taken over by Darren Cross who wants to develop his own Ant Man suit called the yellow jacket. Darren was Pym's apprentice but Darren never liked Pym. Ant Man and his friends (who helped him steal the suit in the first place) invade Pym Tech making Darren wear the yellow jacket and head for Scott's daughters room. Yellow Jacket and Ant Man fight on a Thomas the tank engine set and Scott wins the fight. Scott can now be with his  young daughter and is going out with Pym's daughter (Hope) who helped in the invasion. The ending shows Pym give his daughter a Wasp suit.

MCU phase one recap

As you must know, upcoming this Thursday, is Infinity War and I know it seems a bit late coming, but I'm going to (as best as I can) sum up the MCU phase one (Marvel cinematic universe first six films) for those who aren't up to date. But first...

Spoiler warning! I recommend you watch these films before reading but if you're in a rush as you've booked Infinity War tickets then read on! This is aimed as a recap!

Iron man
The first film, Iron man was released in 2008. It cast Robert Downey Jr as millionaire playboy Tony Stark, from New York who sells weaponry for money. One day he gets attacked by terrorists (ironically using his weapons) and held hostage. They replace his hear with an Arc Reactor as they want him alive to build them a missile. Instead (unbeknown to them), he creates the first Iron Man suit (mk 1) and busts out where he's being held hostage and escapes home. He then modifies the suit to make it more humanoid (with more functional weapons). The terrorist group also try to re-create the suit. Tony finds this out. The terrorist leader is revealed as his well known friend Obadiah who has an even bigger Iron Man suit and we see them battle until Obadiah dies in the end. Tony goes home and reveals to the world he is in fact Iron Man, sending the media to go wild.

  The Incredible Hulk
Seven-time PhD holder, nuclear physicist (and big, green, raging beast), Bruce Banner (Edward Norton) is living in the shadows as no-one knows that he is the infamous hulk. The Hulk is a beast that Bruce forms into when he is angry due to a gamma radiation exposure years back. Since then he has been trying to find an antidote to cure it although, some others have different plans. War Mongers would like to use his power by making their own Hulk. Bruce is blackmailed by threatening his love for the secret to his power. The War Mongers think they get all his Hulk-capabilites, making 'The Abomination' but Bruce Banner still carries the hulk inside so we see an epic showdown of the two hulks fighting to the death. Bruce Banner wins ....

  Iron Man 2
We join Tony Stark again in the sequel of Iron Man as others try to recreate his tech, failing miserably. One man, Justin Hammer, succeeds and creates an army of remote-controlled Iron Men recruiting Whiplash - an enemy of Iron Man. One day Tony gets drunk and is acting foolishly wearing the suit. His friend, James Rhodey (later to be called War Machine), steals another of Tony's suits to stop him before he does something stupid. James then goes away and uses the suit to help the military. We are later introduced to Black Widow (Scarlet Johansson) and Nick Fury (Samuel L Jackson), sent by S.H.I.E.L.D who notice a weird pattern on Tony's chest, showing the Arc reactor is giving him a disease, motivating him to create a triangle shaped arc reactor to cure himself. Eventually, Iron Man and War Machine join forces to fight Whiplash and Jimmy's army in a showdown and surprise, surprise... they win.

 Thor
The fourth film in the MCU is about the Norse god of Thunder Thor (Chris Hemsworth) who is son to the King of Asgard, Odin and is about to take over the throne. The rivals of Asgard, the Frost Giants, from Jotunheim, disturb the ceremony in an attempt to steal the Tesseract (the Space Gem). To enact revenge Thor leads a small group including his brother Loki, Lady Sif and the Warriors Three to Jotunhiem. They battle and are saved by Odin. He had given strict orders to Thor not to battle and as punishment banished Thor to Mid-guard (Earth) where he is separated from his mighty hammer (limiting his abilities). Only a man/woman who is worthy of Asgards throne can wield it. He is then found by Scientists Jane Foster, Darcy and Prof. Erik Selvig in a storm. They investigate his weird entrance whilst S.H.I.E.L.D investigate why no-one can lift Thor's hammer. Thor eventually finds the hammer but realises for the first time he can no longer wield it. Loki appears to tell his  brother he can never return because Odin died and his mother forbids it (Loki, god of Mischief is, of course, lying). Loki wants the throne of Asgard, therefore he sends a metallic giant called the destroyer to earth to kill Thor. It almost succeeds but in the nick of time Thor is seen as worthy again and the hammer flies to him in his moment of need and he destroys the destroyer. Then he confronts Loki, destroying the bi-frost, which can get people from realm to realm to stop Loki from sending the Frost Giants to Asgard. Loki jumps off the bi-frost and is not to be seen until Avengers. But now Thor can no longer return to Earth to see Jane (who has become his girlfriend).

  Captain America: The first Avenger
The last Avenger in phase one - yet known as the first Avenger - is Steve Rogers (Chris Evans). This film is set in WWII and little Steve wants to join the army but is not physically inclined to. He is later accepted into the army by Dr Abraham Erkine who sees he is good on the inside. Howard Stark (Tony Stark's dad) creates a formula to make Steve strong. Steve goes along with it and becomes muscly Captain America who then tries to find Red Skull of HYDRA who went through the same process as Steve but got a Red Skull out of it (hence the creative name!). Cap and his army friends, including his best friend Bucky, go on a mission to find Red Skull, Bucky sadly dies. Cap goes into a one-on-one fight with Red Skull for the Tesseract on a HYDRA plane mid-flight (to stop him having the ability to make powerful weapons). The plane has bombs and was meant to bomb America but Cap flies it into the North Atlantic, freezing himself in the process and is later discovered. The Tesseract plummets deep in the sea. When he wakes from his deep freeze he finds out the war is well and truly over and he has in fact been asleep for 70 years!

Doesn't look like you're the only one with catching up to do!

  Avengers
Finally, the first team up in the MCU happens. Nick Fury of S.H.I.E.L.D came up with an idea to form a team of the world's mightiest heroes consisting of Iron Man, Captain America, Bruce Banner (now Mark Ruffolo), Black Widow and Hawkeye (who is briefly in Thor).

Falling from the Bifrost, Loki emerges in S.H.I.E.L.D HQ with the Scepter (Mind Gem). The Scepter can hypnotise people to follow the wielder, Hawkeye and Prof Erik Solvig are two of his victims and they escape HQ. Nick Fury uses Agent Carson to get Tony; Black Widow to get Banner; and he sets off to enlist Cap, to defeat Loki. They join and find Loki in Germany. They them take him back on their jet but get put on hold by the thunder as Thor appears trying to capture his brother himself to take him home. Tony suits up and stops Thor but then Cap breaks them up after battling. They convince Thor to let them take Loki and they all return to S.H.I.E.L.D. Tony and Banner investigate the scepter with Loki held hostage. Loki starts to cause division within the team with his mind tricks and as Hawkeye (still under Loki's spell) attacks S.H.I.E.L.D, Loki manages to break out. In the process he throws Thor from the plane into the middle of nowhere, getting Bruce angry (we all know what happens when he gets angry), he also falls from the plane and turns back to Banner. At the start of this film we saw mad Titan, Thanos give Loki the Scepter. Loki then gets Prof Erik Solvig (also still under his spell) to open a wormhole which allows Thanos's army into Earth. The army attack NY but the Avengers protect by fighting a huge battle, defeating the army and re-capturing Loki, sending him back to Asgard with Thor. They go their separate ways but all get blamed for the NY damage (even though they saved the Earth!).

 And that's phase one.

Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoyed it. Leave a comment if this has given you a good recap or if you've booked your tickets. I've got mine for opening date then next day at 4DX, can't wait! I hope you now watch or re-watch phase one as it is my second favourite phase after the incomplete third phase. But for now, go ahead and book your tickets for Infinity War - I hope you love it am I'm sure I will. Also take notice of the Gems mentioned as they are key to phase 2-3 and mostly Infinity War! Goodbye!

Thor Ragnarok review part 1

Thor Ragnarok was the fifth film in the third phase of the MCU and hit the cinemas with a bang on the 27th of October.

I just saw Thor Ragnarok and Oh My God!
It's been quite a while since I've done a movie review (my last one was for Rogue One) and I thought it'd be nice too do another one on the new but loved, third film in the Thor trilogy. This film has the potential to be the best film in Marvel history - I loved EVERYTHING about it! Well, I say everything, but every film has flaws and this had kinda noticeable ones within the movie but the rest was hilarious or suspenseful and that is what I look for in good movies.
Before I go on:

!Spoiler warning! Spoilers ahead in this blog!
But, you know you've seen it already
IT'S THOR!!

"Go to hell"

Anyway lets jet into this from the start!
In the very beginning you see Thor wrapped in a chain in some sort of Hell, narrating a story to what we think is us but turns out to be a skeleton opposite him. I found that as quite a funny start of to the movie, until Thor get pulled down to face a 'Lava monster?' Basically a huge guy with horns that is actually a crown. The Monster tells Thor his plans to rule Asgard.
Now this is the thing that annoys me about Marvel villains.
And it's not just Marvel - Lex Luther does it a couple of times to Superman and many other films like Bond! Villains unravel their 'genius' plan to cause mayhem to the the heroes as they are lured to their death but instead of just killing the heroes, they give them a chance to escape  by letting the hero convince them to change their mind which happens a lot in these movies.
Anyway this kind of happens in this movie but it's really just a distraction for Thor to wield his hammer, kick the villains butt and rip the crown off his head to carry on his back.
LIKE A BOSS!

"All hail king... Loki?"

But then it skips to Asgard as Odin (or as we all know from the last movie, is actually Loki shape-shifting) is sitting on his thrown with a Loki statue outside alongside a play of Loki and Thor of how Loki 'died' starring - wait, is that Matt Damon?! Ignoring that, the play is really funny how they make Loki look like an awesome hero of Asgard as 'Odin' gets fed gapes on his throne by women. It looks like Loki has his life made but no, Thor, aka the part-pooper, arrives and crashes the fun by revealing Loki is Odin and the real Odin is missing. Then he takes Loki back to Earth where Loki hasn't been since The Avengers and goes to where Loki left Odin - a care home. They then see the care home being smashed down by a crane as Thor takes a selfie with two girls which again was quite funny!

"Strange, isn't it?"

In order to find Odin they may need help from people with higher powers then them. Maybe Jedi's, Demigods, Iron Man! No, Wizards. Eeer, what?
Yep, the MCU has a wizard and one of them's name is literally called Dr.Strange... and he has a living cape... and is played by Benedict Cumberbatch - okay it's 'strange' (-; - but I think his first movie was greatly done for such a weird concept. And his appearance in Thor was quite funny by the way Thor has absolutely no idea what is going on, but it was a pretty pathetic and brief appearance. He kind of just shows up and goes "oh, here's your father, take him and I'll go out for the rest of the movie and give you back Loki who has literately been falling for the last 20 minutes." Agree? Anyway, they find Odin and talk to him for a while about Asgard and the throne then he perishes into the sky (also he's in Norway btw). He dies pretty quick and less dramatic than it should've been. Still a sad moment but I thought that could've been done better than it was.  Later on, Thor gets mad at Loki, Cate Blanchett (Hella) appears and smashes Thors hammer, Thor and Loki get pushed off the by-frost whilst teleporting to Asgard and land in Sakaar which is a literal realm or dimension where people across the galaxy drop their junk. So it is a huge dustbin, basically.

"The wealthy, the worthy and the... drunk?"

In Sakaar scavengers search the hills of rubbish dropping from the hundreds of portals that appeared in the sky. They mostly looked for 'contestants' for the Colosseum themed 1 on 1 battles with swords and shields, henceforth they find Thor - once again - confused. A couple of scavengers try to take him, then Valkyrie (a drunk woman) beats them to take Thor to her boss who throws the 1 on 1 battle for a hell load of money. It's quite a funny scene, her being drunk, because she falls of the platform and electrocutes Thor. This scene does remind me of when Thor is being put to sleep in the hospital in his first scene, so that was good to see how the humour hasn't changed in a way. After she drags Thor onto his ship with 60's music in the background, he gets taken into the arena and brought to the Grandmaster or 'the boss' (Jeff Goldblum) who throws the battle. He is made quite a  big deal with the others, they kind of worship him like a god. The battle he holds reminds me of the one in 'Attack of the Clones' in Geonosis but they have one 'main event' rather then 3 or 4.

"Another day, another Doug"

As Thor is being introduced to the Grandmaster he spots someone in the crowd and he is none other than Loki himself! Loki claims that he's never seen Thor before as he gets a fresh trim by Stan-Lee. Then he gets put in a holding room his two new friends Mick (a frog with knives for hands that lays eggs whenever he wants) and Korg (a man made out of stones with a kiwi accent played by the directer of the movie). Korg was my favorite character  with one of his best lines being "I was gonna start a revolution once but I didn't hand out enough pamphlets. So only my mum and her boyfriend turned up - who I hate." He seemed so casual but so funny. His friend Mick, on the other hand, was a good character because he was so irrelevant but kept on making a sudden appearance like when he's introduced or when he lays eggs also that bit at the end where he dies because Korg stood on him but then comes back to life (don't ask). Anyway, Thor goes into the battle arena with a short but nice haircut and some sort of war paint on his face. Then the Grandmaster introduces the 'main event' which turns out to be - "...oh what a coincidence, this'll be the second time he's beat me up" - Incredible Hulk!

To be continued .......
